- I've forgotten the combination to my standard dial combination
lock. How do I obtain the combination that I use for personal use?
The ABUS combination mechanism is extremely complicated and secure. That
is why are are unfortunately unable to open your combination lock without
knowing the programmed code.
- Someone was playing around with my resettable
combination lock and accidentally reset the combination. Now, I do
not know the correct
combination. Is there any way to reset this lock back to "0" and
assign a new combo?
Unfortunately, this lock is not resettable without knowing the combination
that was assigned by the owner. It's most likely that you will need
to purchase a new lock.
*Once the lock is set, there is no way to open it without the combination.
Please make sure you record your NEW combination in a safe place.
-
I need additional keys for my padlock.
Your best bet is to get your existing key duplicated at a store that
offers key replacement/ duplication services, or your local locksmith.
-
How can I get a new key for my lock if the locksmith/hardware store
could not find a replacement?
It is not always possible to get a replacement key for every model
of lock. If your hardware store cannot get one for you, please check
with a local locksmith.
If you know the key number, you can email it to us, along with the
lock model, and we will determine if we can get additional keys for
you. The cost (depending on the lock model) will be anywhere from $10.00
to $20.00 per key, along with shipping charges.
If we are also unable
to get a replacement, you may have to purchase a new lock.
-
I have lost the keys that came with my lock
and I do not know my key number. Can I send my lock to ABUS to
have keys made?
Without the key number, there is no way for ABUS to know which
key will open your lock. There is no such thing as a "Master" key
that will open all ABUS products.
-
Is it possible to order a new lock that my existing key will work
with?
It may be possible if you originally ordered a keyed-alike or master-keyed
product and are purchasing the same lock model. When purchasing,
choose the keyed-alike or master-keyed option and enter your key
code in the ‘previous key number to match’ field. We
will verify the key code and contact you if it is invalid.
